Sex-Related Differences in the Mechanism of Functional Tricuspid Regurgitation

چکیده

BackgroundPredictive factors of significant functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) are not completely understood. We investigated sex-related differences in predictors FTR progression.MethodClinical and echocardiographic variables were recorded a prospective single-centre observational cohort 251 consecutive stable patients with FTR. Multivariable logistic regression analyses stratified by sex performed to identify FTR.ResultsThe mean age the whole was 72.2±11.4 years, 133 (53%) women. Females tended have higher prevalence (22.6% vs 13.6%; p=0.066). Women also older than men (mean 74.4 69.6 years; p<0.001), more frequent history arterial hypertension, worse New York Heart Association class, E/e' quotient, left ventricular ejection fraction. The independent women atrial fibrillation (AF) (odds ratio [OR] 10.8, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.9–40.7; indexed diameter annulus (OR 1.24, CI 1.04–1.47; p=0.017), pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) 1.09, 1.04–1.15; p=0.001). outcome tenting height 2.71, 1.20–6.11; p=0.016), 1.98, 1.26–3.09; p=0.003), PASP 1.08, 1.01–1.16; p=0.021).ConclusionsThe presence AF longer convey greater risk females males, respectively. These findings suggest existence different physiopathological mechanisms involved progression both sexes. Predictive progression. Clinical p=0.021).

Assessment of functional tricuspid regurgitation.

Functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) is characterized by structurally normal leaflets and is due to the deformation of the valvulo-ventricular complex. While mild FTR is frequent and usually benign, patients with severe FTR may develop progressive ventricular dysfunction and incur increased mortality. Therefore, FTR should not be ignored, should be appropriately diagnosed and quantified by ...

Tricuspid annuloplasty using the MC3 ring for functional tricuspid regurgitation.

BACKGROUND A recently introduced tricuspid annuloplasty ring, the MC(3) ring, has a 3-dimensional form that is designed to remodel the tricuspid valve annulus. The aim of this study was to investigate its clinical performance. METHODS AND RESULTS From December 2004 to April 2008, 103 patients underwent tricuspid annuloplasty using the MC(3) ring (mean age, 52+/-13 years; 63.6% women). The ave...

Geometric Determinants of Functional Tricuspid Regurgitation

Background—Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is an important predictor of morbidity and mortality in heart failure. We aimed to examine the 3D geometry of the tricuspid valve annulus (TVA) in patients with functional TR, comparing them with patients with normal tricuspid valve function and relating annular geometric changes to functional TR. Methods and Results—TVA shape was examined by real-time 3D...

Progression of tricuspid regurgitation after repaired functional ischemic mitral regurgitation.

BACKGROUND Despite correction of left-sided cardiac lesions, associated functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) that was surgically ignored can persist. It can also appear de novo. The aim of this study was to analyze TR in a group of patients who underwent successful revascularization and mitral valve repair (MVRep) for functional ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR). METHODS AND RESULTS Among...
